radio wanted/advice

Postby pipsqueak » Sat Aug 01, 2009 2:48 pm

my new fig has arrived without any radio/cd player - I've seen all the ads for refurbishing existing units - is there anywhere i can buy an old one for refurb or a refurbed one?

any advice welcome!

(although it did come with a mini-disc player - well I think it's a mini disc player!)

You could try ebay, there are a couple of original non-working units on there at the moment, ridiculously overpriced at nearly £300! You could also try http://www.figarospares.com/nissan-figaro-player-p-24.html for £175 or http://www.figaroclub.com/original-nissan-figaro-cd-unit-p-26.html for £199. Both would need refurbishing.

Hi - when I got my Fig it had a DVD player with flip up screen but no radio - so we bought one from Figarobob.com - an original that works (well so far) he was really helpful and we received it in a couple of days along with other bits and pieces to make "Suzanna" more beautiful!!!!! I suppose it really depends on how much money you want to spend - it was £280 but it looks great and the tape, CD and radio all work. I am sure if he can't help - he'll know someone who can.

You can also try getting a used unit out of Japan through JustDave's Yahoo auction service. He has a post on how to do it. Or contact him at japanauctionservice@gmail.com

thanks for the answers - I've just purchased one from Clarion for £200 for the unit and then the refurb on top - when you calculated the P&P from ebay there wasn't much difference.

It's handy to know Clarion has the units in stock

ya well when my original radio broke, I bought a new Ministry of Sound radio for £40 and I love it. I got an aluminium cradle made for it, it's on my website: http://www.willnichols.me.uk/2009/figradio.html. Personally I don't think it's worth the effort trying to keep those Clarion things operating: I'd rather have a standard module from a good brand. I am thinking about upgrading the speakers however. My speakers are original and they sound a bit tinny, even if I massage the sound with the graphic equalizer.
