Best place for a good fig

Postby sares » Sat Oct 24, 2009 1:06 pm

Hi everybody,
Glad to be a part of the forum.
Having been a Nissan fig enthusiast for a little while now I am finally take the plunge and looking around at seriously buying a lovely fig.
After reading around a bit on the net and this forum, and hearing a few negative things about buying non-refurbed ones, I think I would like a completely refurbed model. I'm sure there are good non refurbed cars out there to be had, but having recent car troubles I would like to get one that I can be confident in and rely on, and am prepared to pay more for a newer feeling car.
I am based in the Midlands and would be very appreciative of any advice people could give me on any dealers in the area, or even dealers that are further afield if they are very good and reliable. I have just been on a website for 'The Figaro Shop', who are based in Didcot, Oxon, and they do all fully refurbed models. Does anyone know if their 50 point refurb list is extensive and does this cover everything I should be concerned with? http://www.thefigaroshop.co.uk/index.ph ... &Itemid=55
I will continue to research on the forum, and thanks in advance for any tips that anyone might have.
Hoping to get a lapis grey fig soon!
Thanks!
Sarah

We've had the discussion about "50 point refurbs" before. If a Fig needs all those parts replacing you have to question what condition it was in previously! A good auction grade 4 Fig with about 50k miles might often just need the interior clean without even removing all the interior panels, a few scratches dealt with, & pass the MOT needing perhaps new shocks & tyres. Any future needs could then be dealt with as they arise allowing time to budget, & get the best value from your purchase. To fit all the other bits is way over the top unless they're needed (worry!) or you want one in near concours condition, with the attached high costs.
If you're getting ALL those parts replaced & fitted at the average cost of a good 50K miles Fig (say £6-7K) then go for it, but prices in Japan now are high due to the strength of the Yen bringing us back to the question of was it cheap in Japan & why.

I'd recommend Baz himself as a supplier for you. Lots of people have bought from him and are very happy. He's just too shy to say it himself!

BTW, that 50 point list has lots of things on it that say left xx and right xx just to string the list out. Why not say "42 point checklist" instead of spreading it out to give a nice round number? Also no mention of the rocker shaft bolts unless they're calling it something else.

Thanks very much for the advice so far! I am now in contact with Baz about possible figs, who I know from previous reading has supplied figs to many happy customers here on the forum. Will keep you posted!
Thanks again,

Hello everybody!

Just thought I would share my good news with you all, as I know you'll appreciate it!... I am now the very happy/beaming/proud owner of my lovely lapis grey fig. My very kind boyfriend went to pick it up today from Barrie, and drove it back down in time to pick me up from work in it. Its now sat on the drive looking very perfect and pretty, and I can't believe she/he is mine! (No gender/name yet!). Thanks Barrie for all your help and advice with the car!
Will try to get some pics when I get some daylight hours with the car. Hoping to see some of you out and about soon and perform the 'Fig wave'! :D

Hey everyone,
Took a while, but I am finally putting some pics on here! Am really enjoying my fig (as yet unnamed!!!), and it is running beautifully - even the snow didn't stop her! I have been lucky with some sunny days and so had the roof down a few times, which was brilliant (nice and cosy wrapped up warm with the heater going!). I have yet to see any other figs while driving mine, (tho my Boyfriend has), but have seen plenty of Figs around, including one parked opposite our house one day, very randomly! I was sadly quite excited by this! Also saw 4 in a couple of days on a recent weekend in London - all around the Marylebone area. Am loving being a fig owner and am so pleased that I got one!
I just want to take the chance to say thanks so much to Barrie aka. Baz F, who got my fig for me and has been so helpful with advice and info since I have had her. If anyone comes on here needing to know where to go... go to Barrie! He's always got a driveway full of figs! :) His website can be found at http://www.figaro-car-imports.co.uk/ Thanks Baz!!!
Will put the pics on the Gallery.
Thanks! Sarah x

I wouldn't go anywhere else for a fig. We love Baz, too.
